The 20th Maine

If you have seen the movie 'Gettysburg', then you will remember the scenes of Joshua Chamberlain commanding the 20th Maine at Little Round Top. Among those under his command was his younger brother. These boys held off sustained waves of Rebel attacks until their ammunition was depleted, and they fixed bayonets to fight hand-to-hand. Many brave men from both sides perished in the hilly woods that day.

Below are some photos of the monument commerorating the 20th Maine, and Harry giving a lecture on Chamberlain and the fight that took place there. The location of the cannon that were placed on Little Round Top is just to the left, or northeast of, the location of the monument.
